Use letter tags not saving

I am using the tag functionality and want it to always use tags with letters by default since they are detected better for me.

However, this seems to be reset every time I restart Chrome. I am using the most recent version of Chrome on Ubuntu with no unusual modifications or other extensions.It used to save for me but now it isn’t. Am I doing something obvious wrong?
